Description

Fuji is a modern apple variety that originated in Japan. It is known for its attractive pink speckled skin, sweet and crisp flesh, and long storage potential.

  • Fuji is a tip-bearing variety, which means it produces fruit at the end of the branches.
  • Fuji requires 500 chilling hours to set fruit, which is the amount of time the temperature is below 7°C (45°F) during winter.
  • Fuji is self-fertile, which means it can produce fruit without cross-pollination from another apple variety. However, cross-pollination can improve the fruit size and quality.
  • Fuji is a late-season apple, which means it ripens in late autumn or early winter. In New Zealand, it can be harvested from May to June.
  • It is a cross between Rall’s Janet and Delicious.
  • It is a late-ripening variety that needs lots of sunshine to mature.
  • It has a dense flesh that contains 9-11% sugars by weight.
  • It has a refreshing flavor with hints of pear, honey, and citrus.
  • It is suitable for eating fresh, baking, and storing.

Fuji is one of the most popular apple varieties in the world, especially in Asia. It is a delicious and versatile apple that can be enjoyed in many ways. 🍎
