Cercis canadensis ‘Hearts of Gold’, also known as the Eastern Redbud, is a deciduous tree with striking features:
Spring Flowers: Masses of pea-like lavender-purple flowers cover the bare branches before the foliage emerges, creating a dramatic display.
Golden Foliage: Heart-shaped, semi-glossy leaves emerge orange-red, mature to bright gold, and remain burn-resistant even in full sun.
Growth: Reaches up to 10 ft. tall and wide (300 cm) in 5 years, maturing to 20-25 ft. tall (600-750 cm) and 18 ft. wide (540 cm).
Ideal Conditions: Full sun to part shade, well-drained soils. Best flower production in full sun, but part shade in hot climates.
