Spring Flowers: A profusion of large, pink-white, semi-double flowers emerges from pink buds during late spring.
Autumn Foliage: Lovely yellow, orange, and red leaves.
Fruit: However, it produces hardly any fruit.
Growth: This vase-shaped tree reaches approximately 4 meters (10-year height) tall and 3 meters wide.
Origin: Native to the United States, it was discovered in about 1840 by E. A. Bechtel in the wild in Illinois and was introduced in 1888.
